Removal

Insulation removal, done clean.

Old insulation that has been chewed by rodents, soaked by a roof leak, or covered in soot from a fire isn't worth saving. We bag the area off, run a high-volume vacuum hose to a truck on the curb, and pull the old material out without dragging it through the house. Clean attic, ready to reinsulate.

What do homeowners ask about Removal?

Do you handle rodent dropping cleanup?

Yes. We treat fouled insulation as biohazard, bag it on the way out, and sanitize the deck before the new insulation goes in. If there is an active infestation, you will need a pest contractor to seal entry points first — we can recommend one.

What if it's vermiculite?

Vermiculite from before 1990 may contain asbestos. We do not remove asbestos-containing material — that's a state-licensed abatement scope. We will identify it on the first visit, refer you to a licensed abatement contractor, and reinsulate after they're done.

How long does the smell take to leave?

Most rodent odor is gone within a week of removal and sanitization. We recommend an attic ventilation check and sometimes a sealed plywood deck repaint where the staining is heavy.

Homeowners who hired us for this

We had R-13 batts from 1979 that had settled to nothing. Crew air-sealed top plates first, then blew cellulose to R-49. Upstairs bedrooms feel different now — the AC actually keeps up on hot afternoons.

Got three quotes. Thermal Pro was the only one who recommended air-sealing before insulation and pushed for the radiant barrier given the East County heat. Bill dropped 18 percent in the first August. Worth every dollar.

Our vaulted ceiling was the hottest room in the house. Closed-cell foam at the roof deck completely changed the room. Crew masked everything carefully, came back to check the cure, walked us through the reoccupancy timeline. Professional all the way.
